Work out – exercise has been known not only to get rid of stress but also increase the levels of serotonin and other feel good hormones. This will steer you away from negative thoughts that cause anxiety.

Sleep well – even though sleep can be affected by anxiety, lack of sleep can cause anxiety. It is thus important to get sufficient good quality sleep every day. For better sleep, eat 2-3 hours before bed, avoid watching TV or using electronics in bed, get the right temperature in your sleeping room, block out all the right and avoid noise.

Meditate – a simple meditation technique is taking deep breaths and releasing them slowly. It also helps to keep a serene mental picture that will help you see there is not threat at all and rid you of anxiety.

Medication- this is the last option when all else fails. Anxiety medications should be taken at the advice of a qualified doctor and for only a short while.
